Children and Positive Behaviour Support

Children have unique developmental, sensory, emotional and communication needs that require tailored Positive Behaviour Support approaches. Our PBS for children focuses on understanding their stage of development and supporting their growth in safe, nurturing environments.

Key elements of PBS for children include:

  • Developmentally appropriate supports that consider age, cognitive and emotional development.
  • Supporting communication through play, visual aids, social stories and age-appropriate language.
  • Identifying triggers and stressors such as changes in routine, sensory overload or social challenges.
  • Building emotional regulation skills with calming strategies, sensory tools and co-regulation.
  • Collaborating with families, educators and therapists to ensure consistent, supportive approaches.
  • Promoting positive social interactions and skill-building for autonomy and confidence.

PBS for children aims to create environments where they feel safe, understood and empowered to express themselves and develop their potential.
