Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based, person-centred approach that seeks to understand why a behaviour is occurring and what the person may be communicating through their behaviour.
Rather than simply responding to behaviours of concern, PBS looks at the whole person—their strengths, needs, communication, environment, relationships and experiences.
By understanding the reasons behind behaviour, we can develop proactive strategies that reduce distress, build skills and independence, promote choice and autonomy, and improve overall quality of life.
We believe meaningful support happens when we understand the person in the environments where everyday life takes place. Our team provides regular face-to-face support and works alongside participants, families, schools, support teams and other professionals.
We love brains that think differently at Aurora. Many of our practitioners are neurodivergent and have close loved ones with disabilities. We proudly support children, young people, and adults across Melbourne, Central and Regional Victoria.
Our behaviour support practitioners are all registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioners who bring a wealth of knowledge to you and come from a diverse range of backgrounds, including:
This diversity means we bring a holistic, practical, and deeply person‑centred approach to every plan. We specialise in supporting neurodivergent and disabled individuals who experience behaviours of concern or distress.
Our Behaviour Support services include:
Our plans are:
Every participant is unique, and their Behaviour Support Plan should reflect this.
Each plan is tailored to the individual and includes strengths-based, person-centred strategies that are responsive to their needs. We look beyond the behaviour to understand what may be contributing to distress and identify practical changes and supports that can make a meaningful difference.
Plans consider the person's strengths, communication, environment and support needs, with strategies designed to reduce distress, increase participation and independence, improve quality of life, and minimise the use of restrictive practices.

We believe strong Behaviour Support starts with strong relationships.
Our practitioners work closely and consistently with participants, families and support teams. Regular face-to-face visits allow us to build trust, understand the person within their everyday environments, and develop strategies that are realistic and meaningful.
Through collaboration, consistency and genuine connection, we aim to create Behaviour Support that reflects the person—not just their behaviour.
